Isolated Facial Palsy

Clinical/Diagnostic Considerations

  • Manifestation of early Lyme disease.
  • If headache, fever, or other neurological symptoms present, consider LP.
  • Corticosteroids are not recommended if diagnosis is typical Lyme associated seventh nerve palsy.
    • If >16 years and evidence of Lyme disease is uncertain, consult Neurology
  • Serological testing recommended.
