Acute Diarrhoea and Dysentery

Acute Diarrhoea and Dysentery

  • Poor feeding, vomiting and fever, followed by diarrhoea
  • Loose stools, often watery in consistency
  • Passage of blood and mucus may suggest bacterial gastroenteritis or dysentery
  • Other findings:

    • Abdominal pain
    • Fever
    • Convulsions
    • Lethargy
    • Dehydration
    • Rectal prolapse
