Age 2 Weeks to < 1 Year

Treatment

Initiate treatment within 48 hours of contact with the infected individual

  • 1 to 8 months of age: 3mg/kg/dose PO BID x 5 days*
  • 9 to 11 months of age: 3.5mg/kg/dose PO BID x 5 days*

*Longer treatment courses may be considered for those who remain severely ill.

Prophylaxis

Not approved, but may be considered in critical clinical situations

Initiate treatment within 48 hours of contact with the infected individual

  • <3 months of age: not recommended unless situation is judged critical, due to limited data in this age group
  • 3 to 8 months of age: 3mg/kg/dose PO once daily x 7 days after last exposure
  • 9 to 11 months of age: 3.5mg/kg/dose PO once daily x 7 days after last exposure

Dose adjust for CrCl < 60 mL/min

Age ≥ 1 Year & Weight ≤ 15kg

Treatment

Initiate treatment within 48 hours of contact with the infected individual

  • 30mg PO BID x 5 days*

*Longer treatment courses may be considered for those who remain severely ill.
