  •  Baseline and periodic CBC with differential

  •  Periodic urinalysis/comprehensive metabolic panel (especially with prolonged therapy)

Adverse Effects

  • Allergy (immediate or delayed)

  • Phlebitis at injection site in a peripheral vein

  • Cytopenias

  • Eosinophilia

  • Interstitial nephritis

  • Abnormal liver enzymes

Major Interactions

  •  Tetracyclines can diminish oxacillin activity

  •  Warfarin: decreased PT/INR with concomitant dicloxacillin
