Clinical

  • Baseline and periodic CBC with differential

  • Periodic comprehensive metabolic panel (especially with prolonged therapy)

Adverse Effects

  • Allergy (immediate or delayed)

  • Phlebitis at injection site in a peripheral vein

  • Cytopenias

  • Eosinophilia

  • Interstitial nephritis

  • Abnormal liver enzymes

Major Interactions

  • Can increase methotrexate levels

  • Tetracyclines can diminish dicloxacillin activity

  • Warfarin: decreased PT/INR with concommitant dicloxacillin
