Associated with penetrating wounds with environmental exposure

  •  Gas gangrene/Clostridial myonecrosis
  •  Necrotizing skin and soft tissue infection
  • Septic abortion
  • Intra-abdominal abscess
  • Fatal bacteremia with massive exotoxin-mediated hemolysis
  • Foodborne self-limited gastrointestinal illness

Surgical debridement of devitalized tissue crucial
