Epidemiology

Ubiquitous, water-associated pathogen, easily selected for by the administration of non-antipseudomonal antimicrobials

Common in hospital environment

Associated syndromes

May be a colonizer of tracheostomy and other sites

Important pathogen in cystic fibrosis and nosocomial infections

Additional Information

May require contact +/- droplet precautions if highly resistant
