Dosing

General Information

  • Steven's Johnson syndrome, Toxic epidermal necrolysis
  • DRESS (Fever, Rash, Eosinophilia, internal organ involvement (e.g. hepatitis)
  • Interstitial nephritis/ nephrotoxicity
  • Elevated liver enzymes
  • Hyperkalemia

It is inappropriate to treat AOM or community-acquired pneumonia with TMP-SMX because of high levels of resistance of S. pneumoniae to TMP-SMX.

Concentration: 8 mg/mL TMP

Tablets or capsules are preferred especially over an unpleasant tasting oral liquid.
