Pathogen information

Aerobic Gram negative bacillus with potential for multi-drug resistance.

Epidemiology

This opportunistic pathogen can be associated with nosocomial infections in North America and can result in outbreaks. Infections can also be seen in military personnel in war zones as well as natural disaster settings.

Associated syndromes

  • Ventilator associated pneumonia

  • Bloodstream infections

  • Prosthetic device infections

  • Wound infections, skin and soft tissue infections

  • Urinary tract infection

  • May be a colonizer
