Most Likely Pathogens

The host’s skin flora (i.e. consider MRSA if risk factors present)

The biting species oral flora, including notable pathogens:

Cat/Dog: Pasteurella spp.*, Capnocytophaga spp.* (can cause sepsis in asplenics)

Human: Eikenella corrodens*, Viridans group streptococci, oral anaerobes

*These organisms produce beta-lactamases and are NOT sensitive to first generation cephalosporins
