General Information

Therapy of suspected and confirmed invasive fungal infections

Pregnancy:

  • There has been no reports describing the use of micafungin in human pregnancy.
  • Limited animal studies have suggested moderate risk of developmental toxicity.
  • Safest course is to avoid use in the first trimester, and consider the risks versus benefits in the other trimesters.

Breast-feeding:

  • Probably compatible with breast-feeding.
  • No reports describing use in human lactation, but given high molecular weight, low lipid solubility, and high protein binding, excretion in breast milk will likely be limited.
  •  Increased liver enzymes
  •  GI upset

Increases levels of sirolimus and nifedipine (mild)
