Gram positive cocci in short chains

  • Commensal micro-organisms that act as opportunistic agents causing a variety of infections in humans
  • Colonize the gastrointestinal tract
  • UTI
  • Bacteremia
  • Endocarditis
  • Biliary tract
  • Contributes to polymicrobial intra-abdominal and skin and soft tissue infection, but less virulent than usual pathogens.
