Influenza Like Illness

An acute onset of respiratory illness with a history of fever and cough and with one or more of the following:

  • Sore throat

  • Myalgia/arthralgia

  • New onset fatigue likely due to influenza

Note: In patients older than 65, fever may not be prominent

Note: Children under 5 may have gastrointestinal symptoms and fever may not be prominent

Infection Prevention and Control Precautions

If influenza is confirmed, continue contact droplet precautions for 7 days after onset of illness or until 24 hours after resolution of fever and respiratory symptoms, whichever is longer.
