Dosing

General Information

COPD exacerbations, Otitis media, group A Streptococcus pharyngitis, and UTI

Tier One

  • Narrow spectrum, possible transition for discharge, IV to PO

  • Strategy: total EBM duration set (inpatient and outpatient)

Renal function

  • Diarrhea

  • Headache

  • Skin rash

  • Cytopenias

  • Vulvovaginal candidiasis

  • Iron preparations and multivitamins/minerals can decrease cefdinir concentration

Binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) to inhibit cell wall synthesis

  • Half-life of 1.7 hours with normal renal function

  • Primarily excreted in urine
