Definitions

Cholangitis is a bacterial infection in the setting of an obstructed biliary tree/biliary stasis

  • Involves source organ only without anatomical disruption
  • Involvement extends beyond source organ
  • Signs & symptoms of severe infection or sepsis
  • Critically ill
