General Information

Should not be used to treat UTIs in febrile infants and young children in whom pyelonephritis is likely

Uncomplicated cystitis in patients with normal renal function

  • Tablet: 50 mg, 100 mg
  • Capsule: 100 mg (monohydrate - MacroBID®)
  • Liquid: 10 mg/mL (BCCH)

Administration with food or milk may lessen GI upset

Average serum half life: No pediatric data. Adults: 20 to 60 minutes and is prolonged with renal impairment

Route of Elimination: Suspension: Urine 40% and feces Macrocrystals: Urine 20 - 25%
